QJS has a strong culture of parent involvement so communication with parents is very important. This is done formally through our reporting periods but also informally through phone calls, email and meetings.
We value working with our parents and it is an important part of putting plans in place in order for students to be successful. Parents are welcome and encouraged to contact subject teachers throughout each term to maintain open communication with teachers.

Please help us by letting the school know if you have changes to your child's contact information throughout the year.
Changes to:
Changes to:
- Basic demographic information - address, phone numbers
- Parent/Guardian Contact information - phone numbers, email addresses
- Changes to living situations
- Emergency Contact information
We do not mail home report cards throughout the year. If your child is not in attendance when report cards are issued, they can be picked up in the office when they return to school.
QJS is a closed campus. The members of the QJS educational community see this as a safety measure. That means that when students walk onto the school grounds in the morning or get dropped off by the bus on school grounds, they are the responsibility of the school and staff and are to remain on campus until they leave at the end of the day. There are usually many activities at the school to keep our students happy, engaged and connected to the school; we recognize these opportunities are recently more limited due to our COVID-19 Health and Safety concerns. We continue to look for new ways for students to be active and engaged throughout the day.
