When Your Child is Absent
Please call the school at 250-747-2103, or send an email to advise that the child is ill or will be away from the school:  QJS Absence Reporting

Good attendance is key to academic success.  The research is simple – increase the time focused on academics and achievement rises. 

Teachers will make every effort to fulfill homework requests, but parents should be aware that a great deal of instruction /teaching is verbal; which does not transfer into home work options.  
 
​Should academic performance, attendance or frequent lates become a problem for your child, teachers may assign the student to study hall as an opportunity to catch up on missed work.  The study hall will be at lunch time in an designated room.  

QJS is a Closed Campus

The QJS educational community sees this as a safety measure. When students walk onto the school grounds in the morning or get dropped off by the bus on school grounds, they are to remain on campus, unless they are signed out at the office.  Violations of the off campus policy results in a phone call home and assigned to study hall.  Repeated offences can result in more serious consequences.

Signing In 
Students who arrive late or are returning from a prearranged sign out need to check in the office when they get here.

Signing Out
Parents:
- Parents can send a note with the designated pick up time
- Parent will need to call when they have arrived at the school so we can send the student out to meet them.
Students:
- Student will need to check out at the office and will receive a slip that will assist them in leaving the school grounds.

Due to Covid-19, our school doors are locked.  If you are picking up your child, please call the office when you arrive so we can release your child to you.  If you have messaged your child about pick up, please remind them that they are to check out at the office and wait for you to arrive.  Thank you!
